What are the areas and/or pieces of my life that bring me joy? Through this investigation I have been able to see a wide spectrum of things that make me happy. This has also allowed me to have a bigger appreciation for the small things, for example my piece of the canoes on the fishing dock at camp. The stillness and peace of spending time on that dock brings me joy. The use of bright colors has greatly influenced my work. Bright colors in the world are one of the small things that bring me joy, so it is very fitting to bring these colors to my world. With my time in high school coming to an end, I have realized that many of the things I have centered my art around are also coming to an end. This summer I will no longer be spending 5 weeks away from my family at my “miracle in the mountains”. I will no longer spend long nights at cheer practice or weekends at competitions. Time with my siblings is also coming to an end. This sustained investigation has not only brought things that bring me happiness to my attention, but also my thankfulness. I have gained a greater sense of gratitude for things that surround me.
